Women's Physical Therapy
Women’s bodies are ever-changing mechanisms that require special attention and care. Women’s Physical Therapy Specialists is dedicated to addressing special needs and health concerns of women including health challenges before, during, and after pregnancy as well as throughout menopause. These experiences in life create many emotional and physiological changes in women's bodies that can greatly benefit from specialized physical therapy programs. The following are our specialty programs:
- Pelvic Floor Tension/Pain
- Pelvic floor tension or pain may be caused by muscle, nerve, or joint problems associated with the suspension of muscles that support the bladder, uterus, and rectum. Patients may experience pain during intercourse, difficulty sitting, or hip and abdomen pain.
- Treatment may include pelvic floor relaxation training, manual therapy, and biofeedback.
- Incontinence
- Incontinence is the involuntary loss of bladder or bowel control due to pelvic floor weakness and can occur with menopausal women, pelvic nerve damage, athletes participating in high impact sports, as well as pregnancy.
- Treatment may include extensive patient education, pelvic floor exercises, electrical stimulation, nutritional and behavior modifications for bowel and bladder habits, and biofeedback.
- Post-Cancer Management

Treatment may include individualized exercise and stretching regimes, manual therapy, and Pilates.
- Pregnancy
- Treatment may include patient education to address proper body mechanics as well as safe techniques for breastfeeding and baby care, manual therapy and message, stretching, therapeutic exercise, Pilates, and the use of maternity supports.
